Student Academic Reports
Teachers are encouraged to be proactive in communicating with parents. This means contacting parents with 'good news' stories and informing parents of any concerns or issues as they arise. Parents should get 'no surprises' when receiving their child's academic report.
- Student report cards are issued the last day of Term 2, and the last day of Term 4.
- Report cards are uploaded to the Parent Portal.
- At St Mary's, teachers use the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards and Standard Elaborations (SE) on a body of evidence to make a consistent judgement as to what students do and know.
- Students receive an “Overall Achievement" grade for Religious Education, English, Mathematics, The Arts, Japanese, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Science, Technologies, Health and Physical Education (HPE).
- The grading is on a five-point scale namely
- Well Above Year Level Expectation
- Above Year Level Expectation
- At Year Level Expectation
- Below Year Level Expectation or
- Well Below Year Level Expectation.
- The academic reports reflect the “effort" which students apply to each area of study. Ratings are either -
- Consistently
- Generally
- Sometimes or
- Rarely.
